Let the fellas tell it, summer calls for the infamous sundress! You know, the form-fitting, hip-hugging kind that shows just the right amount of curves to leave something to the imagination, and according to Bae, men do wonder what’s hiding underneath those “sundresses,” ladies!
I, myself, am a huge fan of “sundresses,” which I have learned is just the male terminology for a maxi dress. Maxi dresses are versatile and can be dressed up or down. They are flattering without causing much fuss. What I also love about maxi dresses is that there is one for every body type and every style. So, whether you prefer boho chic or more class and sass, there’s a maxi dress tailored just for you.
In looking for the “perfect” outfit, we sometimes find an unexpected but equally as good – if not better – look than what we may have imagined in our minds. That is what happened to me when I stumbled across this striped beauty with MAXImum potential at Dress Barn! Do you see what I did there?
In my search for a pleated skirt, which I am still obsessed with, I spotted a navy printed one on a mannequin in the display window of Dress Barn. I don’t frequent Dress Barn, and as a matter of fact, I don’t think I have ever shopped at Dress Barn. Nonetheless, I entered the store in search of this gorgeous pleated skirt. After rummaging around the store for a few minutes, I was unable to find this must-have piece. Apparently, I wasn’t the only one who needed this pleated skirt in their closets.
I decided to search the clearance section since I was already in the store, and much to my avail, I stumbled across this red-and-blue striped maxi dress with a ruched midsection and a chest cut-out. The PERFECT amount of sexy all around! Did I mention that it was on sale for 50% off? Yes, babe. I scored this piece for less than $30! Say it with me: it’s a STEAL!
I dressed my new baby up with a pair of sky-high wedges that I purchased from Nasty Gal a couple of years ago and my favorite reflective cat-eye sunglasses. In my 90’s baby fashion, I opted for a long, sleek ponytail to complete my look. Who needs a pleated skirt when you have this maxi displaying proudly in your closet?
As stated before, this maxi dress is one of those pieces that can take you from work to cocktails to weekend brunch with the girls. The material is airy, and it’s casual without being too laid-back.
I put together a few looks to inspire you all to up your “sundress” game! Which look reflects your personal style?
